In this tutorial, I discuss best practices for social media marketing that most businesses should adhere to, and how to use those best practices to promote your business or start-up via social media. One of the first things you have to do is to get out of immediate sell mode. We all want to get customers and sell more of our products and services, but first we need to build an audience who will listen to us, trust us, respect us, and engage with us. These are some of the main ingredients to successful social media marketing. Many people skip these important steps, but if you skip these steps, the rest of your social media marketing will be more of an uphill battle. It is still possible to sell more products and get customers, but it will just be more difficult.
The most important thing you have to do is provide some sort of value. You can educate, entertain, provide some solutions, or anything else. But at the end of the day, whatever you do, it must provide enough value to some group of people. Once you identify some way in which you can provide value, you should create a content production strategy. You will use this content by posting it to your social media channels like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and other social media sites. The best practice is to begin to build an audience of people through this content that you post. The right way to promote your business on social media is to build an audience who follow your content, consume it, and like you enough to do what you say when you suggest to them to sign up for something, or to buy something.
